All kidding aside, today’s tip is about TMI (Too Much Information) and social media. Time for my serious face because the consequences of sharing too much information on Instagram, Snapshot, Twitter, Facebook and other sites can be quite serious.
When I was a news reporter, one of the first things I learned was how to write a proper obituary. Never include the address of the deceased. Do you know why? Including the address is like an invitation for enterprising burglars. All they have to do is wait for the funeral services and then make their move.
Fast forward to today. Many consumers reveal the equivalent of their home addresses and much more each and every day via their posts to social media.
Some share their daily routines, and pictures of their homes, kids and pets. Others say congratulations and happy birthday. They link to friends, family and business associates.

In other words, they make social engineering that much easier for penetration testers but also bad actors.
Today take a minute to consider whether you post too much to social media. Are you using social media to publish a tell-all? Are you putting yourself, your family or your career in jeopardy?
